QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - The National Weather Service says strong storms has resulted in floods in Adams County in far-western Illinois with tornadoes and heavy rain possible across a wide swath of the state.
The weather service says numerous roads are closed around Quincy after up to 4 inches of rain fell in the area Friday. There were no immediate reports of injuries or serious damage.
In central Illinois, the weather service issued tornado warnings expected to last through early evening for parts of a dozen counties.
Forecasts call for rain through much of the night in central and northern Illinois. Parts of southern Illinois are expected to receive early morning storms.
