GRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) - A southwestern Illinois man is accused of using a baseball bat to beat to death a woman during a robbery of her apartment.
Madison County prosecutors on Tuesday charged Scott Moore of Granite City with first-degree murder, home invasion and armed robbery.
The body of 54-year-old Catherine Fowler was discovered Monday in her Granite City apartment, after a purse found in the street led police there.
Police Chief Rich Miller said there were no immediate signs of forced entry into Fowler's apartment.
Moore was taken into custody Monday night.
