CHICAGO (AP) - More than $22 million is being distributed to communities across Illinois for things like bike paths, hiking trails and landscaping.
The grants for 27 alternative transportation projects in Illinois are funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
According to a news release by Gov. Pat Quinn's office, the projects include construction of a bike trail in Harrisburg, median landscaping in Granite City, sidewalk improvements in Bartonville, a street project in Rushville and a bike and pedestrian bridge in DuPage County .
Quinn's office says the grants are part of the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program.
