VIRGINIA, Ill. (AP) - A 74-year-old woman arrested in Florida on charges she killed her granddaughter's estranged husband nearly a year ago says she's not going to challenge extradition to Illinois.
Authorities arrested Shirley Skinner in Pinellas County, Fla., on Monday on a warrant accusing her in the death of 32-year-old Steven Watkins in Cass County, northwest of Springfield.
Investigators allege Skinner shot Watkins in the back of the head when he went to pick up his daughter at an Ashland house.
Authorities say Skinner, the granddaughter and Skinner's great-granddaughter were living in a home in Seminole, Fla.
In Florida on Tuesday, Skinner told a judge she was waiving extradition to Illinois. Her attorney says she could be returned to Illinois as early as Wednesday to face prosecution.
