Associated Press - October 7, 2009 10:24 PM ET

VIRGINIA, Ill. (AP) - Her attorney says a 74-year-old Cass County woman suspected in the fatal shooting of her granddaughter's former husband has waived extradition from Florida and has returned to Illinois.

Dan Fultz, the attorney for Shirley J. Skinner, said the Ashland resident was expected to appear in court on Thursday or Friday.

Skinner was arrested Monday in Pinellas County, Fla., on a warrant issued in Cass County.

The victim, 32-year-old Steven P. Watkins, died from a single gunshot wound to the back of his head last Nov. 25. He was shot inside the Skinner home in Ashland, where he had gone to pick up his 18-month-old daughter for a court-ordered visit. Watkins was due in court the next day for a hearing in a pending divorce case.
