PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - Municipal budgets are tightening in Illinois, which means replacing older snowplows could be a slower process.
Officials in Peoria and Pekin along with Tazewell County say they're keeping an eye on budgets to see if snowplow purchases are affected.
Peoria Public Works Director David Barber says there's a possibility the city could cutback the number of plows it will purchase for next year. Barber says he'll know more after a budget meeting this week.
Pekin Public Works Director Joe Wuellner says there will be a request for two new plows but he'll be happy with one new plow.
Tazewell County Engineer John Anderson says new purchases are postponed for one year because of budget concerns. But he says he's confident the current equipment will last another winter.
