CHICAGO (AP) - Under a new agreement, students who want to leave a Chicago high school because they don't feel safe after a classmate's beating death can immediately transfer to 1 of 4 other schools.
Attorney Christopher Cooper represents 11 Christian Fenger Academy High School students.
He says he reached a deal Tuesday with Chicago Public Schools that lets his clients transfer to either Carver Military Academy, Morgan Park Academy, Lincoln Park High School or Percy L. Julian High School.
CPS spokeswoman Monique Bond says the district had already offered to let more than 100 Fenger students transfer to other schools starting Jan. 1. She says 10 students have followed through.
Fenger honor student Derrion Albert was beaten to death after school on Sept. 24.
