SPRINGFIELD, IL- Two central Illinois women have died after a two car crash Wednesday.
The accident happened just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night on Illinois Route 4 north of Cherry Grove School Lane.
A 26 year-old Chatham woman was driving south on Route 4 when she unexpectedly crossed into the northbound lane, hitting a 21 year-old woman's car head on.
Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Route 4 was closed for several hours Wednesday night. The road was reopened by Thursday morning.
Illinois State Police are still investigating the crash.
