DECATUR, IL- Decatur City Councilman Adam Brown says that he is disappointed with the news of Tate and Lyle's realignment.
In a statement released Tuesday, Brown says "Tate & Lyle and A.E. Staley have a 100-year history here in Decatur. Generations of Decatur families have earned a living working for Staley. I am disappointed that Tate & Lyle will be moving 120 positions from Decatur to Hoffman Estates. As Councilman, I will continue to work with city and state officials to ensure that Tate & Lyle remains an important part of Decatur's economy."
Brown says this is another blow to the economy in Central Illinois and part of the reason Decatur has such high unemployment.
