Decatur Police have arrested an area police officer for predatory criminal sexual assault.
Officers arrested 42-year-old Douglas Spensley at his home in Decatur early this morning. Spensley is an officer for the Warrensburg Police Department. Decatur detectives say they were notified Tuesday night of an alleged sexual assault of a nine-year-old girl from Warrensburg.
Investigators say the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by Spensly at his home within the last week. Police believe Spensly is a family friend of the victim's parents. Spensley is in jail with a $500,000 bond for the Class X felony. Decatur Police say there may be more charges, as the investigation continues.
The Warrensburg Police Chief says Spensley is on un-paid administrative leave, effective immediately.
