Twelve hours of fundraising and hundreds of thousands of pounds of food.
The Decatur community showed its giving spirit with its overwhelming support of the 8th annual WSOY Community Food Drive held in October. Thanks to your generosity, hundreds of less fortunate families throughout Macon County will be able to put food on their table. The 382,000 pounds of food will be split between the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities.
The top five donating schools were announced at the winning school's location. First place and $2,500 goes to Our Lady of Lourdes with nearly 47,000 pounds of food. Second place and $2,000 is awarded to St. Patrick's School with just over 40,000 pounds. St. Teresa wins third place and $1,500 with more than 19,000 pounds of food. Mt. Zion and Holy Family round out 4th and 5th places respectively.
Quite a feat for all the schools involved.
