UPDATE:We now know the name of the woman murdered in Springfield last night. Police say 53-year-old Darla Key was murdered in her home last night.

ORIGINAL STORY:

 A suspect has been arrested in the murder of a Springfield woman.

 

Michael Seal, 38, has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 58-year-old mother. Springfield Police arrested him shortly after 9:00 p.m. Monday night. At around 8:30 p.m., police received a call stating that Seal had called family members and confessed to stabbing the woman. Police secured the residence located in the 3500 block of North Dirksen Parkway, and arrested Seal without incident.

 

Charges against Seal are pending as the investigation continues.
