Decatur, IL - Steps are being taken to improve Decatur’s lakefront.
Wednesday, the Decatur Park District approved an agreement for a Chicago company to create a master plan for the development. The plan will look at what the community wants to see built, along with how to pay for the project. Decatur Park District board member Cindy Diedrick says she believes the community's ready for change.
“I think the community is ready for something to be done on the lakefront,” says Diedrick. “They understand the opportunity we have, they understand the potential, they understand how tourism dollars can have a big impact on our community.”
The public should get to see the master plan for the development in February or March.
