Springfield, IL- The theme of Tuesday mornings "Spring into Safety" health fair in Springfield was the prevention of unnecessary deaths.
Cars packed the parking lot at Simmons Cancer Institute, where there was a free baby seat inspection. Safety specialists from Thinkfirst were on hand to educate the public about the dangers of risk-taking activities, like texting-while-driving.
Some parents said that events like these are needed in the community because child safety is so important.
Thinkfirst is SIU's injury prevention program, and it is celebrating its 20th year in Springfield.
