UPDATE: Macon County Coroner Michael Day has released the name of the murder victim. Marvin Dickerson, of Decatur, was pronounced dead at 8:53 p.m. Monday. An autopsy will be performed Wednesday at Springfield Memorial Medical Center.

DECATUR, IL- Decatur Police are now investigating the city's 5th murder of the year.

According to a release sent early Tuesday morning, officers were called out to the 1800 block of North Union Street just after 8 p.m. on a report of shots fired.

While police were investigating the scene, three people arrived at Decatur Memorial Hospital within a few minutes of each other.

Police determined that the first person to arrive at the hospital, 31 year-old Hasaun Currie, had been attacked by someone armed with a garden hoe. Currie underwent emergency surgery for head trauma shortly after arriving at the hospital.

A few minutes later a second person, a 19 year-old man, arrived at DMH suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. The 19 year-old died from his injuries just before 9 p.m. Monday.

A third person, 26 year-old Randy Hubbert, was also taken to DMH for treatment to a gunshot wound to the foot.

Police believe that the three victims were in an altercation near the corner of Union and Sawyer. Police say there was a verbal exchange between individuals in the neighborhood that resulted in Currie being attacked with the garden hoe and the murder victim being shot.

Police say that they have obtained a first degree murder warrant for a 20 year-old in connection with this crime and they are seeking additional arrest warrants this morning.

Anyone with information regarding this crime should contact Crime Stoppers, 423-TIPS, or Decatur Police, 424-2711.
