Police Seek Clues into Decatur Murder




DECATUR, Ill - The investigation continues into  the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl that is the city's seventh homicide in just over four months.

Police say Mishyra Wheeler was shot multiple times in an attack late Saturday that also wounded two adults and a 15-year-old girl.

The Macon County Coroner has determined Mishyra Wheeler was killed by massage damage to the lungs and heart.

On Tuesday, police provided new insight on the suspect. They believe the killer is a 6'3" tall African American, and weighs 160 pounds. The suspect wore all black clothing and was armed with a handgun.

Deputy Police Chief David Dickerson says all four victims were at a Decatur home when someone came up to the front porch and opened fire.

Decatur Police Chief Todd Walker says anyone who may have seen or knows something needs to come forward.

"The police cannot prevent this.  Either people have to step up and provide the information to the police or its going to continue."
