Wandtv.com, NewsCenter17, StormCenter17, Central Illinois News-Police Able To Stop Potential Robbery

DECATUR, IL- A Macon County deputy was able to stop an armed robbery before it took place.

Macon County Sheriff Tom Schneider tells WAND that while driving by the Decatur Civic Center, a deputy stopped a group of suspicious people who agreed to a search.

The deputy allegedly found duct tape and a loaded gun. The sheriff says the suspects then told police that they were getting ready to commit a robbery.  

Several people have been arrested and are now being held in the Macon County Jail.
