SPRINGFIELD, IL- Protestors from Illinois' largest employees union showed up at the governor's office Thursday.
AFSCME workers have had their wages frozen since last July. Now those workers want back pay.
AFSCME is calling on the governor to honor its contracts with its employees.
Henry Bayer with AFSCME Council 31 says the union understands the state's fiscal situation and has deferred pay increased. Now Bayer says, Governor Quinn is "refusing to pay the collectively bargained negotiated rates that (workers) are entitled to."
Governor Quinn was not at his capitol office Thursday afternoon. His staff says the state has a negotiator at the bargaining table with AFSCME right now.
The union has two lawsuits over its contract pending in federal and Cook County courts.
