MAHOMET, IL- A wrestling coach at Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School has been fired after he allegedly hit his players' genitals in an effort to motivate them.
The Champaign News-Gazette reports that Theo Plothe, who had been a coach since the beginning of this wrestling season but was not a teacher, is no longer in that coaching position.
Police were contacted on Tuesday about the incident, which was reportedly witnessed by an assistant coach during a wrestling meet.
Police say Plothe was believed to have struck his athletes in the genitals with his hand before they took the mat, in an apparent attempt to motivate them.
