CHAMPAIGN, IL- The City of Champaign will consider a ban on plastic shopping bags during Tuesday night's city council meeting.
The proposal would ban plastic bags or require businesses to charge a fee for customers to use a plastic bag at checkout. The proposal is an effort to cut down on litter.
City council members will discuss the idea in a study session next month.
Champaign residents can offer their input for that study session by filling out an online survey.
