Local Airports Adding More Flights

Posted:

BLOOMINGTON, IL- Travelers looking to fly west this spring will soon have more options.

Bloomington's Central Illinois Regional Airport announced Frontier Airlines will begin offering four weekly non-stop flights to Denver beginning May 18.

The airline will offer an introductory fare of $160 round-trip. Frontier's arrival will help offset Air-Tran's scheduled departure from Bloomington in June.

Direct Air plans to resume its seasonal flights from Springfield to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in May. The twice weekly flights will leave the Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport every Thursday and Sunday.

The airport says last year more than 6,200 people took the flights, which is up 25 percent from 2010. This is the fourth year that Direct Air has offered the service between Springfield and Myrtle Beach.
