DECATUR, IL- Senator Dick Durbin stopped in Decatur over the weekend to announce his support of a candidate running for state congress in the 13th district.
The senator officially endorsed Matt Goetten at a news conference held at IBEW Local 146 Saturday.
Goetten is currently the States Attorney for Greene County. Senator Durbin says he feels Goetten is the best candidate to create jobs and find common ground amongst other lawmakers.
"I know that he is going to be an effective congressman, which we need in this district," Durbin said. "I know that when he goes to work he'll remember the working families first and foremost. He is going to make sure we have laws that are fair across the board."
Goetten is a captain in the Illinois Air National Guard and once served in Afghanistan.
Durbin also made stops in Collinsville and Springfield to make his announcement.
