DECATUR, IL- There are big layoffs in store at one Decatur employer.
StarTek announced Monday that the company will be reducing its Decatur workforce by about 258. The company says the cuts are the result of "a change in work requirements at the site." That is in addition to 100 employees who already knew they were losing their jobs this Thursday.
"We are actively looking for replacement business for the site," said Chad Carlson, President and CEO of StarTek. "We have a trained workforce and an experienced leadership team in place with skills applicable for other clients. We will be working hard to find new business for the site."
StarTek currently employs about 350 workers in Decatur.
Based out of Denver, Colorado, StarTek is a business process outsourcing provider and provides calling centers for other companies.
