DECATUR, IL- The long-time director of the Macon County Health Department passed away early Friday morning.

Jerry Andrews worked at the department for 43 years before retiring in 2010.

Andrews started as a sanitarian. For the 26 years before retirement he worked as the department administrator.

Back in November, the health department named its building after him.
