URBANA - Broken down, chewed up trees and a beaver dam cover the creek at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana.
Park District Environmental Program Manager Judy Miller says that's because there are about four beavers hard at work this winter.
It's something unusual for this time of year but Miller says the beavers are out and about because of the mild weather.
The past couple of months Miller says she's had several people asking questions about what's going on here next to the creek.
That's where the beavers have built a dam by cutting down trees and gathering sticks.
Miller says it's great to have animals active all year but it could cause a few problems.
But the park district installed a new device to protect the park and homes nearby from flooding.
They've also fenced off some of the trees they don't want the beavers to cut down.
