Decatur, IL - With buzzers in hand and the clock ticking down, students put their knowledge to the test. Middle school students met at Millikin University Saturday morning for the regional Mathcounts Competition sponsored by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. Students solved math problems in teams and individually, in hopes of landing a spot in the state competition.
In the countdown round students went head to head to be the first to buzz in with the correct answer. Neha Verma won the countdown round and her team from Maroa-Forsyth is heading to the state competition. Sean Johnson and Alex Taylor of Warrensburg-Latham are also heading to Lisle, Illinois on March 3rd for the state tournament.
