Wandtv.com, NewsCenter17, StormCenter17, Central Illinois News-Man Charged With DUI After Weekend Accident

SANGAMON COUNTY, IL- Two people are in the hospital and one man is in jail after a crash in Sangamon County over the weekend.

The accident happened early Sunday morning on Illinois Route 97 a half mile north of Illinois Route 125.

Police say two vehicles crossed the center dividing line and hit each other head-on.

One of the drivers, Garret Kern, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. His passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
