Vehicle Helps Deputies Take Domestic Violence Calls

Posted:

DECATUR-The Macon County Sheriff's Department has an extra tool on the roads for taking domestic violence calls. They call it the DVA car. The only assignments deputies take are to answer domestic violence calls or serve orders of protection.

Deputies sign up for four hour overtime shifts paid for by a state grant.  They say it is a major help and hope they can get a new grant to keep it rolling.

They've been running the program for the past two years for 400 hours each year.
