City Council To Host Neighborhood Walks This Summer

Posted:

DECATUR, IL- Bringing the city council to the street; that is what Decatur City Council member Dana Ray is hoping to accomplish with a series of neighborhood walks.

The program was announced at the Civic Center Thursday. Through the program, different neighborhoods and council members will join together for a bi-weekly walk.

The city council says this will connect the city, as well as let residents give their input.

Ray says she hopes the walks will "begin to generate a sense of pride" with residents. "Some issues people have can be addressed and we can look back 5 or 10 years from now and say ‘Decatur is a great place to live,'" Ray added.

Through the summer, the council plans to visit 10 different neighborhoods for the walks. They have not yet announced the dates, but they will be available on the city's website when they do.
