SPRINGFIELD, IL- The Sangamon County Sheriff's Department and U.S. Marshals recently held a surprise check on registered sex offenders.
Deputies and agents checked on 75 registered offenders to see if they were in compliance.
Officers say 47 were found to be in compliance and one that was in compliance got arrested on a warrant for unlawful use of a weapon.
One offender was found in federal custody for predatory criminal sexual assault and two others were found to be non-compliant.
Police say the other registered sex offenders were notified of the check and have contacted police.
