Village Police Officer Under Investigation

JEROME, IL- A Jerome police officer is now on leave while he is under investigation.

Twenty six year-old Steven Stirmell is under investigation by the Sangamon County State's Attorney and Illinois Attorney General's offices for an undisclosed reason.

Stirmell is the son of Jerome Village President Harry Stirmell. The investigation was the subject of an emergency closed meeting of the village board Thursday.

Jerome is a municipality just south of Springfield and its police department currently employees eight people.
