Posted:

Stonington, IL- Stonington Firefighters rushed to try and save a home at 2033 E. near 1675 North Road Saturday. Firefighter's say they got the call just after 4 p.m. The fire was so large they had to call for assistance and firefighters from Owaneco, Moweaqua, Assumption, and Taylorville helped put the flames out. No one was home when the fire began and no one was injured but firefighters say serious damage was done and the house was pretty much "gutted" after the fire.

Firefighters say a couple lived in the home with two small children. The State Fire Marshall's Office is now investigating what may have sparked the flames.
