Urbana, Ill - WAND News has learned a 3-year-old boy has died as a result of injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Urbana.
Makhi Woods died at Carle Foundation Hospital's Surgical Care Intensive Unit at about 8:20 Wednesday evening, Coroner Duane E. Northrup confirmed.
Urbana Police were called to a house in the 900 block of East Pennsylvania just before 4:00 Wednesday afternoon. The first officer on the scene was handed the victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound.
Police say a 14 year old accidentally fired the gun while playing with it inside the home. The bullet hit Woods.
The teenager has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.
The investigation continues.
