URBANA, IL- A second teen has been arrested in connection with the accidental shooting death of a 3 year-old in Urbana.
Dequan Fenderson, 17, is charged with violating his probation and unlawfully using a weapon. Police believe Fenderson had prior knowledge about the gun that was used and possibly handled it before the shooting.
Urbana Police say Fenderson was in the room when 3 year-old Mekhi Woods was accidentally shot by his 14 year-old uncle at a home in the 900 Block of East Pennsylvania Avenue Wednesday night.
Woods later died from the gunshot wound to his head.
The 14 year-old was in court Thursday, charged with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon.
A vigil for 3 year-old Mekhi is set for 7 p.m. Friday night at Stone Creek Church in Urbana.
