Macon County Fair Kicks Off Friday

Decatur-  The Macon County Fair kicks off Friday and next week the fair will have a brand new event this year.

Despite the fairgrounds looking empty just before the opening day, there was plenty of work being done to get the fairgrounds ready for 10 days of fun.

New this year is the county fair parade which will take place Wednesday night.

The fair's president says you can expect to see tractors and a whole lot more in the parade.

"We first had the idea of having antique tractors in a parade, and that built up to other people wanted to have a parade also.  I think that there's about 30 entries so far," says fair board president Jerry Foster.

Other events at this year's Macon County Fair, there's harness racing at the grandstand the first three days of the fair, June 1st through June 3rd.

The fair queen pageant is set for Tuesday, June 5th.

There will be a tractor and truck pull, Friday and Saturday nights, June 8th and 9th.
