Decatur IL - The 156th Macon County Fair is now underway. Fairgrounds have been fixed up, and many local bands have to been added this year, along with many free grandstand activities.
However, the center stage this weekend was horse racing. Former Governor Jim Edgar participated in the races as well this weekend, and he came in with a win.
Edgar says "I grew up in Charleston and went to county fairs from when I was five years old. That's one of the reasons I have a harness horse, so I have an excuse to go to the county fair."
Now the rest of the fair gets underway Tuesday evening with a ribbon cutting, and the junior miss and queen's pageants.
4-H events also started Monday. Many food booths are already up, with choices from fried cheese, fried candy bars and even fried Oreo Cookies.
The Macon County Fair runs through June 10.
