CHAMPAIGN -- Over one thousand people joined together in the fight against cancer Saturday night at Champaign County's Relay for Life.
Beez Gordon is part of the crowd. She's a ten-year kidney cancer survivor.
"It's just nice to know cancer isn't a death threat anymore," Gordon said. "A lot of people survive."
But for those who didn't, they were being honored. People were wearing t-shirts, holding signs and lighting candles to remember those lost from cancer.
Relay for Life is a 12-hour event. Team members take turns walking around Centennial High School's track throughout the night.
Activities and food will be happening until the relay is over at 6 a.m. Sunday.
