DECATUR IL - Decatur Fire Cadets gathered at St. Mary's Hospital Thursday afternoon, to learn more than fire safety. St. Mary's is a sponsor for the Cadet program. Hospital workers showed the kids that there is more to a hospital than just doctors and nurses.
The program focuses on teaching kids the importance of being part of the community. Lyle Meador says "were trying to prepare these kids to be very good productive citizens within the community, so hopefully after the five weeks of training in the fire cadet program. Parents are going to notice that the kids are using better manners they are more respectful."
Children and teens that complete the program, will graduate on June 29th.
