MOWEAQUA -- A five year old is being called a hero after his family escaped an overnight fire in rural Moweaqua.
Firefighters from Moweaqua, Assumption and Macon were working putting out the fire for hours early Sunday morning.
The fire started sometime around 1 a.m. while everyone inside was sleeping.
The family says they may not have survived if it wasn't for Corwin Foley, 5. Foley woke up to a popping noise, saw the fire and called for help.
"I heard my young boy screaming real loud," said Edward Foley, Corwin's dad. "I knew something was wrong. Ran downstairs and the whole front room was on fire."
The Foley's are getting some help from the Red Cross and Moweaqua's Lion's Club. But they say they've got a long road of rebuilding ahead of them.
