
ASSUMPTION -- The Christian County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the Assumption Police Department, is investigating a series of reports of criminal damage to vehicles, along with thefts from garages that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, June 25th, 2012 in the village of Assumption.
Deputies from the Christian County Sheriff's Office, along with the Assumption Police Department, responded and conducted a preliminary investigation. As a result it was determined that approximately thirty-nine (39) vehicles sustained damage including forty-seven (47) slashed tires. In addition, three (3) garages were burglarized and items removed.
Under Illinois law, Burglary is considered a class 2 felony which is punishable from three (3) to seven (7) years in jail and or a fine up to twenty-five thousand ($25,000.00) dollars.
This matter remains under investigation by the Christian County Sheriff's Office.
