RANTOUL--Parkland College will soon better serve local residents who want to start their own businesses by participating in programs at a new resource opening Thursday, June 28.
The grand opening of the Rantoul Business Incubator will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Rantoul Business Center, 601 South Century Boulevard. This new program will provide free office space and onsite small business consulting for entrepreneurs as a service of the East Central Illinois University Center, a partnership among local educational institutions and business development resources to promote and foster entrepreneurship in the region.
Parkland Business and Agri-Industries Department Chair Bruce Henrikson said the RBI's goal, "in part, is to reach out to the community and help people who have a goal of starting their own business but find it difficult to enroll in traditional courses at Parkland or the U of I."
The grand opening event will feature tours, demonstrations, networking, applications for office space, and complimentary refreshments. It will be held in conjunction with TechMix, a monthly event connecting people in the local technology community sponsored by the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation.
