New Program Could Give Prescription Drug Help To Seniors

Posted:

CHAMPAIGN - Seniors who just lost their prescription drug coverage under Illinois Cares RX might not have to worry if a new program passes this Fall.

State Senator Michael Frerichs and State Representative Naomi Jakobbson announced Monday their plan for a new program.

It's called the Seniors Pharmaceutical Assistance Relief Program to hopefully help about half of the seniors formerly in Illinois Cares RX.

They're introducing two bills in the House and Senate and action will be taken during the Fall veto session.

Both lawmakers say the new program would help seniors who need the most medical attention.

Senator Frerichs says their new program would save the state money in the long run.
