Park District Struggles With Drought

Posted:

URBANA - It's another week of keeping trees and plants alive.

Urbana Park District Grounds Maintenance Supervisor Randy Hauser says they've developed a new watering routine.

Something unique to this drought, Hauser says older trees are even showing signs of stress so they've added those to their watering list.

As of now over 150 trees are part of the list that staff members are investing time and energy into each day.

Hauser says they'd rather throw resources into watering than risk losing the trees.

He says that'd be a major economic loss for the park district.

On the bright side, the park district hasn't had to spend extra money in hiring staff for extra watering.
