Champaign Police Investigate Shooting

Champaign, Ill. - The Champaign Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon in the area of James Street and Bradley Avenue.

It happened at about 4:30 PM.

When officers arrived, officers found a 22 year-old man who reported being shot by an unknown man. The victim says he was walking in the area of 1100 North James when he was shot.

He has been transported to Carle Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

While interviewing witnesses, officers received information of the suspect's whereabouts. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20's, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build.

Police will continue to investigate this crime and is asking for assistance from the public. Anyone with information is asked to call Champaign police at 217-351-4545
