CHAMPAIGN - Two local men who survived one of the worst naval disasters in U.S. history are traveling to a survivor's reunion.
Don McCall of Champaign and Art Leenerman of Mahomet are among 317 who survived the USS Indianapolis sinking.
On Friday they will travel to the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis for a three day event meant to honor those who died at sea, as well as the survivors who have since passed. Close to 20 of the remaining survivors are expected to attend.
