SPRINGFIELD IL – Illinois House of Representatives Environmental Health Committee will be holding a public hearing in Monticello on Thursday, August 16, at the Piatt County Farm Bureau to discuss legislation's prohibiting the disposal of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) waste or material containing PCBs at the Clinton Landfill.
The House Bill 6153, that hopes to prohibit the disposal of PCB waste and material containing PCB. The landfill is less than 500 feet above the main source of drinking water, Mahomet Aquifer, for the town.
This hearing is an opportunity for the public to learn about this legislation and the issues surrounding the proposal to dump hazardous waste in the Clinton Landfill before the General Assembly votes on this important environmental protection bill. All residents are encouraged to attend.
