ST. JOSEPH - A boy scout is raising funds to help make a Veterans Memorial more accessible to those with disabilities.
St. Joseph-Ogden High School Sophomore Willie Campbell has raised nearly $10,000 to create a 300 ft sidewalk surrounding his school's monument.
Nearly half of the amount was donated by the village of St. Joseph, with the rest coming in from individual donors and a fundraiser.
Campbell, who launched the project to become an Eagles Scout, says the sidewalk will be completed by Aug. 10.
Donations are still being accepted for landscaping and other related work. Contributions can be mailed to the Busey Bank in St. Joseph, with checks made payable to the Troop 40 Veterans Sidewalk Project.
