JOLIET, Ill. (AP) -- Drew Peterson's 18-year-old son made an appearance at the former police officer's murder trial.
The 58-year-old Peterson smiled as he leaned back in his defense-table chair Thursday to chat with Kristopher. After five minutes, the teenager got up from a bench and left. Kristopher and some of Peterson's other children are on the witness list, so they can't attend the proceedings.
Peterson is charged with killing Kristopher's mother, Kathleen Savio, in 2004. She was found dead in her bathtub. Peterson was only charged in Savio's death after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007
Peterson and Savio had two sons, Kristopher and Thomas. Drew and Stacy Peterson also had two kids. All four children lived with Drew Peterson until his 2009 arrest.
