Fatal Accident Victim Identified

Sangamon County, IL - WAND has learned the identity of the woman who died after being hit by a car on I-72 near New Berlin.

The Sangamon County Coroner says it appears Scarlett K. Walton, 31, of Springfield was trying to travel from Jacksonville to Springfield. lShe was walking along I-72 near New Berlin last week when the accident occurred.

The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation by the Illinois State Police and the Coroner's office. An autopsy was performed, but toxicology is pending.
