Sangamon County, IL- One person is dead and two others are fighting for their lives after a crash just outside of Springfield. Officers say they were called to the scene around 3:15 a.m. Sunday after someone said they saw a car hit a tree near 5200 West Washington in Sangamon County. Four women were in that car and they were all rushed to the hospital.
Officers say a 23 year old Springfield woman died from her injuries and another 23 year old woman is battling life threatening injuries. The driver, a 22 year old from Springfield is in serious condition. Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash but the Illinois State Police Reconstruction Team is still out trying to piece together exactly what happened.
